An ongoing challenge facing Birankai North America is maintaining standards of excellence in teaching and curriculum development. Teachers (and students) face financial hurdles in getting to training forums required to maintain certification.
The mission of the Scholarship Program is to enhance educational and training opportunities for dojos, instructors and individual general members with genuine financial need who demonstrate the potential to teach Birankai NA's Aikido curriculum and related programs to their communities.
The Birankai North America Scholarship Program now employs three strategies to address scholarship.
|
Scholarships to Certified Instructors for national training events Scholarships helped financially strapped instructors attend the 2008 President's Seminar. the 2009 President's Day Seminar and for the 2009 Summer Camp. Our next round of scholarships for instructors will be for 2010 Summer Camp. 2011 Summer camp Scholarship Announcement 2011 Summer camp Scholarship application |
The Scholarship Guide for individual dojos The Scholarship Committee is developing a guide for individual dojos sharing the ways we help our students with financial needs to continue their training. Examples of best practices of scholarship from Birankai North America dojos |
The Seminar Grant Program The Scholarship Committee is administrating Birankai NA's a "Seminar Grant Program" . The goal is to enable smaller/outlying dojos to bring senior instructors to teach and promote Aikido. The pilot program was initiated in November 2009 will help three dojos with grants of up to $500.00 each. |
Funds for these programs come from the Summer Camp raffle and the General fund. We hope to be able support Birankai scholarship (scholarships and grants) through fundraising.
